Porcelain and sintered stone ranges have their own care instructions. Use the guidance for your exact brand, product and finish. A cleaning method suitable for one surface should not automatically be used on another.
Routine cleaning for Dekton
Cosentino advises neutral soap and a damp microfibre cloth for simple recent marks on Dekton, followed by removing the soap residue and drying. This is a Dekton example: check the instructions for another brand before applying the same routine.
Take care around exposed edges
Avoid striking sink edges and exposed corners with heavy cookware. Cosentino identifies accidental chipping around frequently used areas such as undermount sinks. If an edge chips, photograph it and contact the fabricator for assessment instead of attempting an improvised repair.
Heat advice is product-specific
Dekton is designed to tolerate hot objects, but Cosentino also recommends protection for prolonged heat, particularly on its thinner surfaces. Follow the guidance for your selected surface and appliance. Using a suitable trivet is a straightforward everyday precaution.
Do not guess at specialist stain treatments
Different stains can need different treatments. Consult the current manufacturer guide before using a chemical cleaner, solvent or abrasive pad. If a mark persists, send the supplier photographs and explain what caused it and which products you have already tried.
Know who handles aftercare
Keep the fabricator contact, manufacturer care guide and warranty records. A loose join, crack or chip needs assessment; cleaning will not resolve a structural issue. Ask who handles installation concerns and who handles material queries at handover.
